Sometimes it can seem as if we are climbing out of the darkness on a staircase of uncertainty. After all, as we walk by faith and not by sight, we venture into uncharted, unfamiliar territory. Commonly, as God prunes us, all that we know drifts away, our idols, our crutches, our sin-soaked lives. How do I navigate this dark staircase in my soul? How do I reach and walk in the light? The light is scary, unfamiliar since all that I have known is the residue of trauma, shrouded in a canvas of dark chains, veils, and broken promises. My soul longs for the light, but my flesh grows weary of the journey. Fighting my way out of the darkness, one step at a time. I will make it; I will have that breakthrough!
